Melee Reults -- End of Move Six. . .

The situation around Fickmuhlen Village at the end of Move Six.

Well, my cavalry have fared rather badly against General MacDuff's infantry.  Something like 30 casualties to his 11 when all calculations were said and done.  I've had to fall back the usual 6" while MacDuff's outside the village have had to all back 3".  His inantry within the village are firmly in control of it at this point.  As singer Gilbert O' Sullivan might have asked 40+ years ago, "What to do?  What to do?"  While not a military man by training, experience, or profession, I am well aware of how hard it is to dislodge troops from built up areas.  Hmmm. . .

In better news, the Grand Duchess' stollen was wonderful to sample yesterday evening with fresh coffee by the fire.  Buttery and good.  The Young Master demonstrated last year that he also enjoys it, so it won't be around long enough to dry out I fear, and there will be just one this year since we got a late start on Christmas preparations with the move on the 14th.  Still, things have worked out pretty well.  I even have managed to find and unpack many of my painting supplies, and the New Stollenkeller down here in the basement is beginning to look lived in at last.

The 2015 Dresdner Stollen, freshly buttered and dusted with powdered sugar.  Take that, General MacDuff!  Your infantry in the village will be so busy munching on this that they'll never know what hit 'em once my I've collected my wits and decided what to do on the tabletop.

Never had Stollen but by all the praises I have heard, I'd love to take it , or a piece of it rather. Not a season to be greedy.

As for how to evict my army from the table, well, I could tell you what I was rather worried that you might try but instead I'll just keep a wary eye out.

The Christmas holiday season is now official with the celebratory unveiling of the Stollen. It looks very tasty.

The Eventual Anhalt-Zerbst Regiment. . .

The Anhalt-Zerbst regiment musters in the drill square to sort themselves into platoons and companies during the coming weeks  Fall maneuvers if you will. A large dose of real life the last few days with the start of classes next Monday, various preparatory meetings, and finishing up a few other things this week.  But, I managed to sort out 60 or so Minden Austrian infantry from the pile and get 'em stuck to temporary painting bases.  Must carefully drill out the hands of several NCOs for flagpoles and pole arms this weekend before the usual basecoat.   I'm thinking of mixing the usual white gesso with the usual light gray to kill two birds with one stone so to speak.  Applying both base- and undercoat in one fell swoop as my grandmother used to say. In the meantime, the recently finished squadron of Saxon cuirassiers has been placed carefully in one of the clear acrylic boxes on my shelves until I have the suitable flag to affix.   -- Sto...

Presenting the Anspach-Bayreuth Kuirassiere!!!

Here they are, with the rearmost nine figures still drying, three squadrons of the Anspach-Bayreuth Kuirassiere, now in the service of the Grand Duchy of Stollen. And now, it's onto that artillery!

Continued Regional Map Revisions. . .

F ooled around a bit more with the revised map just before and after dinner this evening, using the Fotor app to reinsert missing text .  I also removed a few other things using the 'Magic Eraser' function, which works surprisingly well.  Now, we're getting somewhere.  I just have to figure out how to ensure that the text is all a uniform font style and maybe figure out a way to add a few bunches of trees to suggest forested areas,  Ninja AI is not always entirely cooperative to the tune of "I'm sorry Dave.  I can't do that." -- Stokes
