They not only offer 25mm (or the old 1" range) but also 30mm ACW figures.

Also, while browsing the SSM site, you might want to look at the 20mm Jacklex range by the late Jack Alexander. These are true 20mm, range from very well done to OK, and include a wide variety of subject matter including ACW, Russo/Japanese War, and an extensive Colonial range that includes French Foreign Legion and some excellent equipment groups including all the major types of guns and even supply wagons and such. I painted an extensive Colonial collection back in the late 70's and some of these figures are quite nice and a joy to paint.

The 20mm are very reasonably priced (barely more than some of the newer 15mm ranges), would paint quickly but still show detail, and you could include some really diverse units (British Naval Brigade in 'boaters', Sihk Infantry, Bengal Lancers, and Sudanese/Egyptians in fez) to represent the Duchy's Colonial interests/clients. Just my two cents worth as an idea.

BTW, did Sir Paul get to see his namesake on TV the other night in the "Concert From New York"? Of course you'll have to introduce him to the "classics" as he ages! My best to you and Sonja and the young heir apparent.

BillSir William the Agedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15503300059802446520noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33020106.post-1199073166289864372009-11-28T15:28:56.237-06:002009-11-28T15:28:56.237-06:00For cavalry, Napoleonic types - especially ones li...For cavalry, Napoleonic types - especially ones like Hussars - would be useful well into the 19th Century. As far as mid-century, many infantry still looked very Napoleonic as well.Rob Younghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02533996736711014752noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33020106.post-19260530029782272432009-11-28T10:29:56.474-06:002009-11-28T10:29:56.474-06:00Alan -- Thanks for the encouragement!

I'll have a look at them.

Ross -- Ah, yes. I forgot about the Danes. And you know, I did happen to look at the Tradition marching band, which later slipped my mind, but several useful figures there as you point out.

Thanks for checking in, men. In the meantime, it's back to the 18th Century for now. Russians in Greatcoats as well of course. Also various volunteer jaeger units min-19thC adopted floppy broad brimmed hats, sometime switch plumes so room for a few confederates as well. Caliver has some useful guides.
Tradition has a band and some marching British figures in spiked helmet that might be of use to you.
Don't forget the possible inclusion of trains......
Ross MacRoss Mac rmacfa@gmail.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04053555991679802013noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33020106.post-11281210292762371382009-11-27T23:19:04.100-06:002009-11-27T23:19:04.100-06:00Hello Stokes,

The early Schleswig-Holstein troops in pickelhaube might suit:

www.waterlootomons.com

I'll shut up now :-)

Best wishes
SteveSteve Gillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00784652695519954845noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33020106.post-20589873083018743112009-11-27T14:58:32.735-06:002009-11-27T14:58:32.735-06:00I forgot to ask are you thinking of using Charge f...I forgot to ask are you thinking of using Charge for the mid 19th Century or do you have other ideas forming?
Alantradgardmastarehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13116967655904601740noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33020106.post-6934199838476045352009-11-27T14:06:50.420-06:002009-11-27T14:06:50.420-06:00Stokes

I have started in the opposite direction from you with listing factions and possabilities in my diary on the train whilst going off to work...I will look for figures later
Too many projects and too little time!
Alantradgardmastarehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13116967655904601740noreply@blogger.com
